My place of work has provided some accommodations such as a phone flasher, a TTY, or even a pager to alert me about emergencies or fire alarms at work. However, I want an interpreter as well, for meetings, trainings and such. My employer says they are already providing reasonable accommodations for me under ADA law, but I say they aren't providing enough? How do I find out for sure who's right? Answer: One way you can find out for sure if you are receiving appropriate accommodations is to contact the Americans with Disabilities Act information Hotline and ask them. These are professionals who know the law inside and out and can offer a great deal of insight and advice as to how to proceed. The ADA Hotline is wonderful with getting the information needed, advice on how to proceed, and they have also been known to follow up on our calls! The ADA Hotline is: 800-514-0301 (voice) 800-514-0383 (TTY) or check out: http://www.ada.gov/infoline.htm.
